Making 89 seconds atomized

89 seconds Atomized, is a re-invention of acclaimed video artwork by Eve Sussman | Rufus Corporation and Snark.art

89 Seconds at Alcázar is a continuous, seamlessly looping video that reimagines the spaces and the characters in Diego Velazquez’s painting Las Meninas. It was first shown at the 2004 Whitney Biennial. All existing editions of the work are held in museums (MoMA, Whitney) or in private collections.

In 2018, Sussman appropriated her last artist proof to make a new work: 89 seconds Atomized, and presented it to the crypto community via an interactive project on the blockchain in collaboration with Snark.art. In 2021, a new interactive installation of this work is presented 'live' from Snark servers for the exhibition Deep Fakes: Art and Its Double.

The film shown here is a 'behind the scenes' documentary of the making of 89 Seconds at Alcázar.
